DAF YA4440 4x4 Beaver rough terrain recovery Truck with winch are ideal for rough terrain recovery work where a load of 3,000 - 4,000kgs needs to be carried. EX military. They are ideal for recovery of off road vehicles or plant. The beaver tail has built in storage for ramps as well as a 24v Superwinch system to aid in the recovery of machines which are not able to drive on to the bed of the truck under their own power. Using all ZF transmission and steering components, coupled with the DAF engine, puts these well on par with the Mercedes 1017. We are able to supply vehicles with either flatbed cargo body or dropside with canopy. Immediately available large quantities ex NATO reserve stock in excellent condition.

Development DAF YA 4440 (4 x 4) 4,000 kg truck The YA 4440 (4 × 4) 4,000 kg medium-mobility vehicle was developed by DAF to meet the requirements of the Royal Netherlands Army. The first five prototypes were handed over to the Army for trials late in 1974. Late in 1976 the Royal Netherlands Army placed an order for 4,000 vehicles for delivery between 1977 and 1980. Late in 1977 a further order for 2,500 vehicles was placed, with final deliveries made in mid-1983. The YA 4440 is based on proven commercial components and shared many common components with the DAF YA 2442 (4 × 4) 2 ton truck (this was developed to prototype stage but not placed in production), including the cab, engine, transfer case and transmission. It was designed to carry 4,000 kg of cargo both on roads and across country and to tow a trailer with a maximum weight of 6,000 kg.DAF delivered 17 examples of the YAK 4440 for trials fitted with a hydraulic crane for rapid unloading of ammunition and cargo. These have the same chassis as the basic YA 4440, but to accommodate the crane which is located immediately behind the cab, they have a shorter cargo body which has no bows or tarpaulin cover. Of the 17 units, eight had a PESCI (P445G) crane and nine a Hiab (850S) crane. Following trials with these prototype vehicles, the Royal Netherlands Army placed an order for 200 units fitted with the Hiab crane.Final production figures for YA 4440 series trucks supplied to the Netherlands
Description DAF YA 4440 (4 x 4) 4,000 kg truck The four-person all-steel cab of the YA 4440 is of the forward control type and derived from the commercial DAF F218 cab. It can be tilted forward to allow access to the engine for maintenance. The reinforced cab roof allows the installation of a ring mount for a light machine gun. The frame which supports this ring is bolted directly to the cab roof over the manhole cover. The torsionally stiff rear cargo platform has bows, tarpaulin cover, side boards and a tailgate, all of which can be removed to enable the truck to carry containers or pallets, if required. When used for troop transport, seating in the form of six removable drop-down benches is provided for 18.Motive power is provided by a DAF DT 615 diesel engine. Power is transmitted to the DAF model 2235V front and model 1635 rear beam-type axles via a ZF five-speed manual gearbox and ZF two-speed transfer box.The YA 4440 is fitted with air brakes, with the parking brake acting on the front axle, an exhaust brake and a trailer brake. The electrical system is splashproof and radio suppressed.
